As TAS continues to support families in the school search process, one question comes up again and again: “Who will my child become after spending many years at this school?”

That is why, when TAS introduces itself to parents, the school does not speak only about curriculum. It speaks about a journey: whether learning is truly seamless, whether quality is measured, and whether the environment helps children grow not only in academic ability, but also in character and confidence.

For the past 16 years, TAS has remained committed to a philosophy of whole-child education: developing academics, athletics, the arts, and character together, so that students do not simply achieve strong results, but also grow into kind, confident, and responsible individuals.

THE EARLY YEARS: TAS BEGAN WITH A CLEAR COMMITMENT TO WHOLE-CHILD EDUCATION

2010: Founded with a clear mission

TAS was founded in 2010 with a clear vision: to build an American-standard educational environment where students could grow holistically in intellect, physical development, the arts, and character.

From the very beginning, the school understood that “whole-child education” could not remain just a slogan. It required long-term investment: a strong curriculum, capable educators, facilities designed to support the learning model, and a school culture deep enough to support each child over time.

Standardizing quality: milestones that build parent trust

TAS has pursued international standards in school operations and quality assurance. In 2015, TAS was accredited by WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges), and in 2024, it became a member of CIS (the Council of International Schools), two highly respected global educational organizations.

These recognitions are not merely badges of academic quality. They also affirm that TAS operates in alignment with the standards expected of a leading American international school in Vietnam.

2020: A new campus, a new chapter in the student experience

In 2020, TAS moved to its new campus, a modern 30,000-square-meter learning environment designed around hands-on, experiential learning, with specialized spaces for science, technology, athletics, and the arts.

The campus was intentionally designed for long-term growth, with the capacity to serve more than 2,000 students. Every part of the learning environment was created with purpose, giving students the space to practice, move, create, and learn safely within the whole-child model TAS has chosen to uphold.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF RECENT YEARS: FROM “WHOLE-CHILD” TO “WHOLE-CHILD WITH CLEAR STANDARDS”

If the early stage was about building the foundation, then recent years have been about accelerating growth through concrete academic milestones, especially in two key areas: IB in Elementary School and AP results in High School.

2025: A defining year in TAS’s long-term academic strategy

The year 2025 marked a major turning point in innovation, growth, and academic development. TAS made targeted investments in academic quality, improved the student learning environment, and strengthened the long-term foundation that supports future student success.

As part of this progress, TAS was officially recognized as an IB PYP Authorized School, joining the global community of IB World Schools (PYP). This is a significant academic milestone, because IB authorization means the school has met the organization’s standards for educational philosophy, faculty readiness, classroom implementation, assessment systems, and continuous improvement.

At the same time, TAS continues to expand its long-term vision for the IB pathway in High School, with the goal of broadening academic options for students while building on its existing American academic foundation.

TAS TODAY: A SEAMLESS LEARNING PATHWAY ACROSS EVERY STAGE

One question parents often ask when searching for an international school is: “What will my child study at each stage, and how does that stage prepare them for what comes next?”

At TAS, the learning pathway is intentionally designed as a connected progression.

1) Early Childhood and Elementary School: IB PYP-learning through inquiry, building thinking and character

TAS is authorized to deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and is now an IB World School (PYP).

PYP emphasizes inquiry-based learning. Students learn through questions, experience, observation, and reflection. In implementing the program, TAS focuses on building highly interactive classrooms where students collaborate, present, and take ownership of their learning rather than passively receiving information.

PYP is offered from Pre-Nursery through Grade 5. In the early years, the school places particular emphasis on language development, emotional readiness, and positive learning habits, so that by the time children enter Elementary School, they have the confidence and routine necessary to thrive in the PYP environment.

Students do not simply gain more knowledge. They learn how to learn: through experience, inquiry, communication, collaboration, and the development of the foundational dispositions they will need for the long journey ahead.

2) Middle School: Common Core-strengthening academic foundations and helping students discover their strengths

In Middle School, TAS emphasizes the Common Core standards in order to strengthen reading, writing, argumentation, and mathematical reasoning, while also building sustainable study habits such as independence, self-management, and collaboration.

Common Core-strengthening academic foundations

Middle School is the stage in which students begin to define their academic direction for High School. That is why they are exposed to a wide range of fields: science, technology, the arts, media, and more in purposeful ways that help them recognize where their strengths and genuine interests lie before entering a more specialized stage of study.

3) High School: AP-academic depth and university preparation

In High School, TAS offers AP (Advanced Placement) courses as a rigorous academic pathway aligned with university goals. AP allows students to study more deeply in their strongest subject areas, while developing the core habits of higher education: long-form reading, analytical writing, and evidence-based argumentation.

AP-academic depth and university preparation

In the 2025 school year, 95% of TAS students earned AP scores of 3 or higher, surpassing the global average, with some subjects achieving an average score of 5.0. These are powerful results and a strong reflection of the quality of teaching at TAS.

Alongside AP, the school is planning to expand the IBDP pathway in the next stage of development, increasing academic options for High School students. The goal is to create an additional pathway that matches each student’s strengths, field of interest, and university goals giving them more directions to choose from while keeping everything within a structured, standards-based academic system.

THE FOUR CORE PILLARS: “WHOLE-CHILD” IS MORE THAN A TAGLINE

TAS puts its Whole Child philosophy into practice through four pillars: Character, Academics, Athletics and the Arts.

Pillar 1: Character-students should excel, but above all be kind

At TAS, the belief that “Every child matters” is not symbolic. It is a guiding value. Each student is respected, listened to, and encouraged to grow in a way that reflects their own individuality.

The school nurtures kindness as a daily habit through community service, counseling support, and a classroom culture rooted in care and responsibility. At TAS, character is not a secondary part of education. It is the foundation.

Pillar 2: Academics with strong standards

The academic program is built on the foundation of Common Core and AP, while continuing to expand IB at the Elementary level.

In addition to strong AP results, TAS students have earned more than USD 200,000 in scholarships from international universities.

Pillar 3: Athletics-discipline, resilience, and teamwork

TAS offers a wide-ranging athletics program and organizes interschool competition opportunities. Student teams represent the school in SISAC events and other competitions.

At TAS, athletics are not viewed simply as after-school activities. They are a place where students build discipline, learn how to work as a team, and develop the resilience to rise after setbacks.

Pillar 4: The Arts-expression, confidence, and creativity

TAS maintains a rich arts ecosystem that includes a performance hall, music rooms, visual arts spaces, and drama studios, alongside annual events such as the Saigon Literary Arts Festival and student art exhibitions.

The goal is for every student to “shine in the right way”: to express themselves with confidence, to think creatively, and to grow into young people who can inspire others.

SCHOOL LIFE AND PARENT PARTNERSHIP: TRUST BUILT THROUGH TRANSPARENCY

TAS values parent partnership and works intentionally to build a connected community around students. The school regularly hosts activities such as Parent Coffee Talks, community events, and schoolwide initiatives that strengthen the bond between families and the school.

For Middle and High School students, TAS also organizes University Fairs and College and Career Guidance Workshops, giving students and families the opportunity to meet admissions representatives, compare options, and gain a clearer picture of the university pathway ahead.

THE ROAD AHEAD: EXPANDING ACADEMIC OPTIONS WHILE PROTECTING CORE QUALITY

Over 16 years of growth, TAS has always viewed listening to parents and students as an essential part of its culture of continuous improvement. The school regularly reviews its academic programs, student experience, and operational standards so that every adjustment serves one consistent goal: to deliver a stronger, more meaningful learning experience for each new generation of students.

Over the past two years in particular, TAS has entered a period of clear and purposeful transformation. The school has accelerated its academic development, updated its teaching practices in line with modern educational trends, and advanced key milestones in its international program offerings. This is not change for the sake of change. It is thoughtful progress built on an established foundation and supported by measurable results.

In the years ahead, TAS will continue to expand its academic pathway at the high school level, including the development of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), in order to offer students more options aligned with their strengths, interests, and university goals. At the same time, the school remains firmly committed to its American educational foundation, with the AP program continuing to serve as the school’s academic backbone, ensuring that every expansion is grounded in core quality.

TAS is clear in its direction: the development of international pathways is not about following short-term trends. It is about building a sustainable academic system in which students have more opportunities to choose the path that is right for them, and parents can place their trust in a journey shaped by real substance, clear standards, and a long-term vision.
